Deck Cleaning & Staining

A clean, freshly stained deck is the centerpiece of every backyard — and it lasts a lot longer when it’s cared for the right way. Adams Power Shower gently cleans and restores decks, fences, and outdoor wood structures throughout St. Louis & St. Charles, then seals them to protect against years of Missouri sun, rain, and snow.

What We Clean & What’s Included

Our deck and fence service covers just about any outdoor wood or composite surface around your home. We start with a low-pressure wash that lifts away the gray, weathered look along with the grime that builds up over the seasons — then, if you choose, we sand, stain, and seal to bring the wood back to life.
  • Wood decks & railings — cedar, pine, redwood, and pressure-treated lumber
  • Composite & Trex decks — cleaned gently to remove algae, mildew, and grime without damaging the surface
  • Privacy & picket fences — wood and composite, including stain & seal
  • Pergolas, gazebos & arbors — the hard-to-reach wood structures most companies skip
  • Stairs, landings & deck skirting
Every job includes brightening the wood, removing gray UV weathering, and clearing away algae and mildew. Optional sand, stain, and seal restores the color and adds a protective layer that keeps water and sun from breaking the wood back down.

Why the Gentle Approach Matters

Wood is soft — and that’s exactly why deck cleaning is not a job for a high-pressure blast. Too much pressure (or holding the wand too close) will fuzz up the grain, etch lines into the boards, and gouge the surface. Once wood is fuzzed or gouged, stain soaks in unevenly and the damage is permanent.
After 36+ years cleaning decks across the St. Louis & St. Charles area, we use low-pressure washing paired with the right cleaning solutions to do the work — not raw force. The result is wood that’s brightened and clean, with the grain intact and ready to accept stain evenly for a finish that holds up for years.

What Affects Your Price

No two decks are the same, so we never quote from a one-size-fits-all price list. A handful of factors shape what your project costs:
  • Size & square footage — the larger the deck or fence, the more surface there is to clean, sand, and stain.
  • Surface type — wood, composite, and Trex each call for different products and prep; bare wood vs. previously stained wood matters too.
  • Condition — heavy gray weathering, mildew, or old failing stain takes more work than a deck that’s simply due for a refresh.
  • Accessibility — multi-level decks, tall railings, tight landscaping, and second-story structures add time and care.
  • Cleaning only vs. clean + stain & seal — adding sanding, staining, and sealing is more involved than a clean-and-brighten.
Every estimate is free and customized to your deck. We’ll walk the project with you, explain exactly what it needs, and give you a clear, honest price — no pressure and no surprises.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you stain decks too, or just clean them?

Both. Cleaning and brightening the wood is step one, but we can also sand, stain, and seal to fully restore your deck and protect it. Many customers have us clean and stain in one project so the wood is sealed against sun and moisture right away — you can always start with a clean and add stain later if you prefer.

How long does deck stain last?

It depends on the product, the exposure, and foot traffic, but a quality stain and seal on a properly prepped deck typically holds up for 2 to 3 years before it needs a refresh. Horizontal surfaces like floor boards and stairs weather faster than vertical railings because they take the brunt of the sun, rain, and snow. Keeping up with re-staining on schedule is the single best way to make your deck last.

Can you clean composite/Trex decks?

Yes. Composite and Trex boards still collect algae, mildew, and grime, and we clean them with low pressure and the right products so the surface isn’t damaged. Composite doesn’t get stained, but a gentle professional cleaning brings back its color and clears away the slick, mildewy film that builds up over time.
